The Greenhouse
The urban greenhouse is a hybrid type created by merging the reverse T-Type and reverse I-Type. It constitutes a tower which holds residential and working spaces, and a plinth that is open to both residents of the tower and the general public. The concept enables the building to serve as an urban connector between the green spaces of Theodor – Heuss Platz situated to the west of the site and the Lietzenseepark situated to the east. It is meant to be a sheltered public space, which will provide high-quality urban green spaces, for the transient users coming from and towards the ZOB and the permanent users that live or work in the surrounding areas. To fulfill the idea of having a covered space without making it heavy, dark and enclosed to its surroundings, A green house structure that shelters and supports the program of the plinth is proposed.
